Diske project 10th study visit was held in Klaipeda Science -Technology Park, Lithuania, from 21-22nd August, 2011.
The visit was organized by Deloitte Company within the Project “Preparing of development strategy for Elbląg Technology Park for the years 2011-2020 and a future cooperation strategy for technology parks involved in the DISKE Project".
Among the invited guests were representatives of the Municipal Office in Elbląg, Elblag`s Technology Park, Gdansk Science & Technology Park/Pomeranian Science – Technology Park and Klaipeda Science – Technology Park. Event organizers also invited representatives of local authorities, universities, and companies located in a local park.
The visit consisted of meetings with representatives of Klaipeda Science – Technology Park, Klaipeda Municipality Office and innovative companies located in the park. Moreover, study visit participants attended several trainings combined with discussion meetings coordinated by the organizers of the event and KSTP. The trainings were aimed at updating and strengthening the knowledge, abilities and skills in the park management, supporting the creation of spin-offs companies, sources of financing (Parks and Parks` tenants), project development including local networks, attracting investors, supporting science and innovation in Lithuania, best practices of Triple Helix Model in Lithuania, as well as technology transfer and transport development. Apart from the above representatives of the Diske project visited the most innovative companies in the KSTP and obtained information on the KSTP functioning.
The KSTP was founded in 2002 in cooperation of Klaipeda University and the Ministry of Economy of The Republic of Lithuania. However, the first reconstructed building of KSTP was officially opened in 2004. At present the KSTP has more than 40 companies, public enterprises and branches of international companies acting in the innovation environment and the global market. During the seven years of work the Park has established a wide network of partners in all continents enabling boundless collaboration possibilities. It carries out intense project activities enhancing entrepreneurship and is actively working in the fields of technology transfer and transport development.
This study visit certainly contributed to the creation of networks between science and technology parks, increase of parks innovative potential in the South Baltic Region and intensification of cross-border relations between innovative SMEs.
